TRANSFORMATION of STATE AT RELIGION in the CONTEXT of STATE-RELIGION RELATIONS

Abstract

Complexity of administration rises as the evolution of societies progress from simple to complex. This complexity gains new dimension by the emergence of societies with state. Providing legitimation of the governing authority of state involves much more different and hard effort than administrative system in hunter-gatherer societies. Religion has undertaken a significant function in this issue through the ages and has caused people believe that the authority of administrator came from God/Gods. Religion has effects on both social change and strucutre of state as well. This makes the concept be analyzed fundamentally in both sociology and public administration recently. The aim of this study is to discuss the complex relations between religion, state and society in the context of neoliberal arguments. Thus it might be possible to set the phenomenon, maintained by the structural views by being broken off its context, on the way accurately in recent administrative science literature. And this might be significant step obviously.

Özet

Toplumların basitten karmaşığa doğru süregelen evrimi içerisinde, yönetim olgusunun karmaşıklığı da artış göstermektedir. Devletli toplumların ortaya çıkmasıyla birlikte bu karmaşıklık yeni bir boyut kazanmıştır. Devleti yöneten otoritenin meşruiyetinin sağlanması, avcı toplayıcı topluluklardaki yönetim dizgesinden daha farklı ve zor bir çabayı gerekli kılmaktadır. Tarih boyunca din, bu konuda önemli bir işlev üstlenmiş ve başlangıçta yönetenlerin otoritelerini tanrıdan/tanrılardan aldıklarına inanılmasını sağlamıştır. Gerek toplumsal değişime olan etkisi, gerek devletin yapısı üzerindeki etkisi, dini günümüzün sosyolojik olarak en iyi incelenmesi gereken kavramlarından biri yapmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, din, devlet ve toplum arasındaki karmaşık ilişkileri neoliberal tartışmalar çerçevesinde ele almaktır. Bu yolla, günümüzün yönetim bilimi yazınında, bağlamından koparılarak yapısal tezlerle desteklenen olguları gerçek düzlemlerine oturtmak adına önemli bir adım atılabilecektir.
