ECOLOGICAL REFUGEEISM

Abstract

Historically, it is known that human populations migrate due to the adverse natural events such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, storm. Today, environmental problems such as global warming and climate change lead to massive human migration. This situation, as an important problem, has brought the ecological refugeeism to the agenda. In this study, ecological refugeeism which has not been so much mentioned yet in national literature but has become one of the major issues of international agenda will be discussed. In this study, firstly the concept of ecological migration/refugeeism and conditions that lead to migration/refugeeism will be examined. In addition, it will be given place to situation of ecological refugeeism in the world and status problems of ecological refugees will be examined. Then, as two interdependent regions, Turkey's and EU's perspectives for ecological refugeeism will be scrutinized. The study will be carried out by literature review method.

Özet

Tarihsel olarak deprem, sel, heyelan, volkanik patlama ve fırtına gibi olumsuz doğa olayları nedeniyle insan topluluklarının göç ettikleri bilinmektedir. Günümüzde de küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliği gibi çevresel sorunlar, kitlesel insan göçlerine yol açmaktadır. Bu durum önemli bir sorun olarak ekolojik mülteciliği gündeme getirmiştir. Bu çalışmada, henüz ulusal literatürde pek değinilmeyen fakat uluslararası gündemin önemli konularından birisi haline gelen ekolojik göç/mültecilik1ele alınacaktır. Çalışmada öncelikle ekolojik göç/mültecilik kavramı ve ekolojik göçe/mülteciliğe yol açan koşullar, bu konuda dünyadaki durum ve ekolojik mültecilerin statü sorunları ele alınacaktır. Daha sonra konu bağlamında bağımlı iki coğrafya olarak Türkiye ve Avrupa Birliğine yer verilerek, söz konusu ülkelerin ekolojik mülteciliğe bakış açıları irdelenecektir. Çalışma, literatür tarama yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilecektir
