The infectious agents causing equine endometritis and infertility

Abstract
In this study, the investigation and treatment of infectious agents causing endometritis and infertility in Arab mares were aimed. From the vaginal cultures of 11 infertile mares 54% Klebsiella pneumoniae, 27% E. coli, 27% Streptecoc and 18% Actinobacter were isolated. Pneumovagina was observed clinically in 5 mares during oestrus period. After intrauterin antibiotic treatment, 8 mares came to oestrus between 5-13 days and 4 were pregnant by artificial insemination.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Eskişehir Anadolu Tarım işletmelerine ait Arap atlarında endometritis ve infertiiiteye sebep olan enfeksiyöz etkenlerin araştırılması ve elimine edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. İşletmeye ait 11 adet infertilite problemi olan kısrağın vaginal kültürlerinden %54 Klebsiella pneumoniae, %27 E. coli, %27 Streptococ ve %18 Actinobacter izole edilmiştir. Klinik muayenede, östrus döneminde 5 kısrakta pneumovagina gözlenmiştir. Pozitif kültür tespit edilen kısrakların intrauterin antibiyotik tedavisi sonucunda 8 tanesi (%72.7) 5-13 gün içinde kızgınlığa gelmiş ve suni tohumlama uygulanan bu kısrakların 4'ü gebe kalmıştır.
