Abstract
Natural history and studies on ethiopathogenesis of idiopathic scoliosis, the most frequent cause of structural scoliosis, is evaluated. General concepts of classification and diagnostic modalities that can be used arreviewed. In the light of our present knowledge on the natural history and therapy of idiopathic scoliosis, the pros and cons of different types of surgical treatment, so far used or that are available, is discussed.
Özet
Yapısal skolyozlar içerisinden en yüksek oranda görülen idiopatik skolyozların tarihse gelişimi ve etyopatogenezle ilgili çalışmalar ncelendi. Bunlardan yararlanılarak idiopatik skolyozdaki genel yaklaşım, kendi içindek sınıflandırma ve tanı yöntemleri değerlendirildi. İdiopatik skolyozun doğal seyri ve gene edavi ilkeleri tartışılarak, günümüzde uygulanan ve uygulanması gerekli cerrahi tedav yöntemlerinin avantaj ve dezavantajları ortaya kondu.
