Recent fixation techniques in subaxial cervical spine

Abstract
The fixation techniques used in the subaxial cervical junction are somehow different from the techniques used in other regions of the spine as the subaxial cervical junction is different both anatomically and biomechanically. In parallel to improvements in orthopedics implant technology, there are similar improvements in the fixation techniques of subaxial cervical junction during last 20 years. In this article, we aimed to review the most recent advancements in subaxial cervical fixation to help the spinal surgeons.
Özet
Subaksiyel servikal bölge, anatomik ve biyomekanik olarak diğer omurga bölgelerinden farklı olması dolayısıyla bu bölgedeki fiksasyon teknikleri de, diğer bölgelere göre önemli farklılıklar içermektedir. Son yirmi yıldır ortopedik implant teknolojisindeki gelişmelere paralel olarak, subaksiyel servikal bölge fiksasyon tekniklerinde önemli gelişmeler yaşanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, spinal cerrahi pratiğinde, cerraha yardımcı olacak güncel subaksiyel servikal fiksasyon teknikler üzerinde durulmuştur.
