Investigation of Holiday Preferences According to Demographic Variables in Domestic Tourism: A Research on Residents

İç Turizmde Demografik Değişkenlere Göre Tatil Tercihlerinin İncelenmesi: Yerel Halk Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the demographic characteristics of the local tourists participating in the internal tourism movements and to determine the differences in the travel and holiday preferences of local tourists according to the demographic variables. In order to achieve this aim, 602 people were determined face to face in the Edremit Gulf which is located within the boundaries of Balıkesir province. In the study, the preferred regions for the holiday, preferred accommodation facilities, preferred type of hostel, preferred tourism type, time spent for holidays and daily wage issues were investigated and it was examined whether there was a difference in preferences according to the demographic status of the participants. The results of the research show that the domestic tourists have more intention to participate in sea-sand-sun tourism and the Aegean and Mediterranean regions are the first choice in the regions preferred for holiday.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, iç turizm hareketlerine katılan yerli turistin demografik özelliklerinin tespit edilmesi ve bu doğrultuda yerli turistlerin seyahat ve tatil tercihlerinin demografik değişkenlere göre ne tür farklılıklar gösterdiğinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için Balıkesir ili sınırları içerisinde yer alan Edremit Körfezi’nde kolayda örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen 602 kişi ile yüz yüze görüşülmüştür. Araştırmada tatil için tercih edilen bölgeler, tercih edilen konaklama tesisleri, tercih edilen pansiyon türü, tercih edilen turizm türü, tatil için ayrılan zaman ve tatil için harcanan günlük ücret konuları araştırılmış, katılımcıların demografik durumlarına göre tercihlerde farklılık olup olmadığı incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları; yerli turistlerin deniz-kum-güneş turizmine katılım niyetlerinin daha fazla olduğunu, tatil için tercih edilen bölgelerde Ege ve Akdeniz bölgelerinin birinci tercih durumunda olduğunu göstermektedir.
