Tourism Potential, a Study on the Perceptions of Local People and Sector Representatives)

Giresun İli'nin Turizm Potansiyelinin Belirlenmesi, Yerel Halk Ve Sektör Temsilcilerinin Algısı Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Tourism potential identification is necessary for the emergence of destinations supremacy, determination of tourist attractions, evaluation of tourism supply and demand structures and inorder to uncover alike features. Especially when undeveloped rural areas open to tourism, it contributes to the economy both regionally and nationally. The aim of this study is, putting forth the natural beauties, climate, socio-cultural wealth and tourist supply and demand structure, which are some of the tourist attractions in Giresun district, by determining Giresun city’s tourism potential. Also in this study, local people and tourism sector represantatives in Giresun was measured according to a five-point likert scale. Surveys were evaluated in terms of positive and negative economical, socio-cultural effects and superstructures for tourism adequacy. Within this scope, 398 surveys were done to local people and tourism sector represantatives in Giresun. As a result of the research, it is understood that Giresun city has an effective tourism potential with its natural and socio-cultural assets, but various strategies and policies should be developed in order to become an active tourism destination

Özet

Destinasyonların turizm açısından üstünlüklerinin ortaya çıkması, turistik çekiciliklerinin belirlenmesi, turistik arz ve talep yapılarının değerlendirilmesi ve benzeri özelliklerinin açığa çıkarılması için turizm potansiyelinin belirlenmesi gerekmektedir. Özellikle kırsal alanlarda bulunan ve turistik açıdan gelişmemiş destinasyonların turizm sektörüne kazandırılmaları, hem bölgenin ekonomisine hem de ülke ekonomisine katkı sağlayabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; Giresun İli'nin turizm potansiyelini belirleyerek, Giresun il sınırları içerisindeki turistik çekiciliklerden doğal güzellikler, iklim, sosyo-kültürel zenginlik ve turistik arz ve talep yapısını turizm açısından değerlendirilerek ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca çalışmada Giresun'daki yerel halk ve turizm sektör temsilcilerinin , anket yöntemiyle değerlendirmeleri alınarak, turizmin olumlu ve olumsuz ekonomik, olumlu ve olumsuz sosyo-kültürel etkilerinde ve üst yapıların turizm için yeterliliğinde, beşli likert ölçeği yöntemine göre algıları ölçülmüştür. Bu doğrultuda Giresun'da yer alan 398 yerel halk ve sektör temsilcisine anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda Giresun İli'nin sahip olduğu doğal ve sosyo-kültürel varlıklarıyla etkili bir turizm potansiyeline sahip olduğu ancak aktif bir turizm destinasyonu olması için çeşitli stratejilerin ve politikaların geliştirilmesi gerektiği anlaşılmaktadır
