Abstract

It was determined that Culex pipiens used 12 different breeding habitats and coexisted with 9 other mosquito species in these habitats in the study area covering Gölbaşı District, Mogan and Eytnir lakes, and İmrahor Valley in Ankara, Turkey. It was also found that Culex pipiens did not have a specific habitat preference, and could breed in all of the aquatic habitats level. Seasonal changes in larval and adult population densities were conducted using 17 larval sampling quadrats reflecting the general features of the study area, 6 New Jersey light traps and 8 barn quadrats. The overwintering of Culex pipiens winter population was also studied.
