Abstract
We studied in this paper which is titled Socio-Cultural Integration of Foreign Students (The Example of Karabuk University) tha adaptation process of foreign students. The individuals living in a foreign society might encounter some problems. In this study, we tackled positions in which they faced difficulties or adapted themselves in a relatively easy way. We also dealt with psyco-social problems thay went through along the process. We aim by this research to show the experiences that undergraduate students had along the process. We analyzed the experiences of students about difficulties such as longing for their families, social communications, making friends, accomodation, and the customs of food and clothes. We also aimed by this research to define the challenges that foreign students face and provide with knowledge about the university and the city to the prospect students.
Özet
Araştırmamız, Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrencilerin Sosyo-Kültürel Entegrasyonu (Karabük Üniversitesi Örneği) başlığı altında, yurt dışından gelen öğrencilerin yabancı bir topluma uyum sürecini ele almaktadır. Bu çalışma ile öğrencilerin uyum sürecinde hangi konularda zorlandıkları, hangi konularda daha çabuk adapte oldukları incelenmiş, adapte olma süreci içinde yaşadıkları psiko-sosyal konular irdelenmiştir. Araştırma, 2016-2017 öğretim yılında Karabük Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 30 yabancı uyruklu öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilen mülakatlar çerçevesinde ortaya çıkmıştır. Mülakatlar sırasında deneklerin izni ile ses kaydı alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Karabük Üniversitesi’ne lisans ve ön lisans eğitimi için gelen öğrencilerin adapte olma süreci içinde neler yaşadıklarını ortaya koymaktır. Öğrencilerin aile özlemi, toplumsal iletişim, arkadaş edinme, barınma, giyim, yemek kültürü gibi konularda yaşadığı tecrübeler, karşılaştığı problemler konu edilmiştir. Yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin problemleri belirlenerek gelecekte üniversite eğitimi almak için Karabük’ü tercih edecek öğrencilerin üniversite ve şehir hakkında bilgi sahibi olması hedeflenmiştir.
