Effects of Feminism on The Qur’anic Tafsir in Modern Period

Feminizmin Modern Dönem Kur'an Tefsirine Etkileri: Tefsir Sosyolojisi Üzerine Bir Deneme

Abstract

This article contains some examples of the effects of feminism as a philosophical and social movement emerged in the modern era on the modern Qur’anic tafsir and tries to discuss the ways in which tafsir activities are influenced by contemporary thought movements in the sample of feminism. In this study “new” examples of translation and tafsir made by “feminists” and “women” and are thought to have emerged under the influence of feminism will be included and it will be questioned whether or not to talk about a kind of “feminist interpretation/ hermeneutics” movement. On the other hand, feminist Qur’anic hermeneutics is a fairly new interpretation method that emerged in the 20th century and therefore there are some criticisms against this method. In this context, some theological and methodological criticisms of the feminist Qur’anic interpretations will be mentioned at the end of the article

Özet

Bu makale, modern dönemde ortaya çıkmış felsefi, siyasi ve toplumsal bir hareket olan feminizmin çağdaş dönem Kur'an tefsiri üzerindeki etkileri konusunda bazı örneklere yer vererek tefsir faaliyetlerinin çağdaş düşünce akımlarından etkilenme şekillerini feminizm bağlamında tartışmaya çalışacaktır. Daha çok Batıda gelişen feminist hareketlerin İslam dünyasını da etkilediği bilinmektedir. Bu çerçevede bu çalışmada, feminizmin etkisiyle ortaya çıktığı düşünülen ve genellikle "feministler" ve "kadınlar" tarafından yapılan bazı yeni yorum denemelerinden bahsedilecek ve bir tür "feminist yorum/hermenötik" akımından söz edilip edilemeyeceği sorgulanacaktır. Öte yandan, feminist Kur'an hermenötiğinin 20. yüzyılda ortaya çıkmış oldukça yeni bir yorum yöntemi olduğu düşünülürse, henüz emekleme aşamasında olan bu girişime karşı bazı eleştirilerin de getirildiğini tahmin etmek zor olmayacaktır. Bu bağlamda, makalenin sonuç kısmında feminist Kur'an yorumlarına yönelik bazı teorik ve metodolojik eleştirilere de yer verilecektir
