The Examination of Financial Performance of Companies in Tourism Sector, Which Are Being, Traded in Exchange Istanbul (EI) With Data Envelopment Analysis and Total Factor Productivity

Abstract
Performance analysis is an indication of the extent to which companies use resources they have effectively and efficiently in line with the objectives of company. Ratio analysis for activity analysis, one of the techniques that are used to measure performances of companies, parametric and non-parametric methods are applied. The aim of this study is to research the financial efficiencies of 9 tourism companies which are processed in EI 100 between 2009 - 2013 with the help of financial statements. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) which is one of none parametric mathematical programming based efficiency measuring method is used to measure for organizational efficiency and Malmquist Total Factor Productivity (TFP) used in this study. According to the criteria set by the active and inactive as a result of the analysis, tourism businesses have been identified.
Özet
Performans analizi, firmaların sahip olduğu kaynaklarını firmanın hedefleri doğrultusunda ne ölçüde etkin ve verimli kullandığının bir göstergesidir. Firmaların performanslarını ölçmede kullanılan tekniklerden olan etkinlik analizi için oran analizi, parametrik ve parametrik olmayan yöntemler uygulanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; BIST 100'de işlem gören 9 adet turizm işletmesinin mali tablolarından faydalanılarak 2009-2013 yılları arasındaki finansal etkinliklerinin araştırılmasıdır. Çalışmada işletme verimliliğinin ölçülmesinde kullanılan parametrik olmayan matematiksel programlama tabanlı etkinlik ölçüm yöntemlerinden Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) ve Malmquist Toplam Faktör Verimliliği (MTFV) Endeksi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analiz sonucunda belirlenen kriterlere göre etkin ve etkin olmayan turizm işletmeleri tespit edilmiştir.
