Abstract

Pseudoachondroplasia characterized with short-limb short stature and precocious osteoarthritis has an autosomal dominant inheritance that recently autosomal recessive forms have been reported. : In this article a five years old male patient diagnosed as pseudoachondroplasia is presented that in her roentgenographs irregularity of epiphyses, tonguing of vertebraes and widening of ribs have been found while she was searched for short stature. Her father and mother were first degree relatives who were completely healthy and had normal stature. Because of this in our patient autosomal recessive inheritance of this syndrome was thought. In this disorder recent studies showed the defect on the gene which codes cartilage oligomeric matrix protein on the chromosome of l9p13.1. But just before the development of osteoarthritis cases with younger ages clinical and radiological signs are sufficient for diagnosis without genetic search.
