Stapes surgery in pediatric patients

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the result of stapedectomy in pediatric patients with otosclerosis. 11 pediatric patients with otosclerosis who underwent stapedectomy from 1970 to 1995 in Haseki Hospital Clinic of Ear-Nose-Throac were investigated in retrospective manner. Patients were evaluated for preoperative and postoperative air-bone gaps and postoperative air conduction hearing improvement. We showed an average postoperative air-bone gap of 19.5 dB and an average bone conduction hearing improvement of 42.7 dB.
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı otosklerozlu pediyatrik hastalarda stapedektomi sonuçlarını değerlendirmek ve karşılaştırmaktır. Mart 1970 - Haziran 1995 tarihleri arasında S.B. Haseki Hastanesi Kulak Burun Boğaz Kliniğinde otoskleroz tanısı ile izlenen ve stapes cerrahisi uygulanan 11 pediyatrik hasta (12 prosedür) retrospektif yöntemle incelendi. Hastalarda preoperatif ve postoperatif hava-kemik aralığı ve postoperatif hava iletim eşik değerlerindeki iyileşme değerlendirildi. Postoperatif hava-kemik aralığında ortalama 19.5 dB, hava iletimi eşik değerlerinde ortalama 42.7 dB iyileşme sağlandığı görüldü.
