Abstract
Today, the correct diagnosis of pigmented lesions where the incidence of cutaneous malignant melanoma is increased, acquires importance gradually. Dermatoscopy has gained a new dimension in the correct diagnosis of pigmented lesions in the clinical morphology. In our study in which we have questioned to what extend we can obtain the correct diagnosis by dermatoscopic examination of pigmented lesions, the dermatoscopic diagnosis of 33 pigmented lesions with definite decision to be excised, is compared with their definite diagnosis by histopathology. In 30 out of 33 lesions (90.9%), dermatoscopic diagnosis and histopathologic diagnosis have been found to be consistent. As a result, dermatoscopy has been assessed a quite reliable, easy, and inexpensive method in the correct diagnosis of the pigmented lesions which can not be distinguished early by the naked eye.
