Abstract
In this study 50 melted material workers, 75 wood workers, 60 healthy volunteers were selected to investigate harmful effect of dust on respiratory functions of continuous workers in wood and metal industry. This peoples respiratory functions were tested by using computerized spirometer (MIR - Medical International Research- Spirobank). It was found that smoking melted material workers and wood workers had statistically lower PFT FVC%,FEV1%, FEV1IFVC%, PEF%, than smoking controls; non smoking melted material and wood, workers had statistically lower PFT FVC% ,FEV1%, FEVHFVCVo, PEF%, FEF%25-75% than non smoking controls. The results show that both smoking and exposure to dust are more deleterious effect on the respiratory functions of melted materials workers and wood workers
