THE GROWTH EFFECT OF R&D EXPENDITURES AND HIGH-TECH EXPORTS: THE CASE OF TURKEY

Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the effect on the growth of R&D expenditures and high-tech exports in Turkey. For this reason, cointegration analysis and vector error correction model (VECM) were applied using variables representing GDP, R&D, and high-tech exports for the period 1993-2016. According to the results obtained, it has been found that there is a long-term relationship between the variables. It was also determined that the resulting deviations would reach the balance after 8.3 periods.
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de Ar-Ge harcamaları ve yüksek teknolojili ürün ihracatının büyüme üzerindeki etkisini analiz etmektedir. Bu nedenle 1993-2016 dönemine ait GSYH, Ar-Ge, ve ileri teknoloji ihracatını temsil eden değişkenler kullanılarak eş bütünleşme analizi ve hata düzeltme modelleri uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre değişkenler arasında uzun dönemli bir ilişki olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Ayrıca oluşan sapmaların 8.3 dönem sonra dengeye ulaşacağı tespit edilmiştir.
