Abstract

Lice tomato is a local tomato genotype grown in Lice district of Diyarbakır province. It is a table tomato which is called with the name of this district and comes into prominence with its peculiar colour and taste. Lice district is very suitable to grow tomato with its cool and wide valleys laying between the mountains presenting a natural environment where almost no chemicals have been used. As a result of the ecological conditions and the type of production the most important problem is related to plant protection practices including weed control. This study was conducted in 2012 with the aim to determine the problematic weed species and their frequency and intensity in Lice tomato growing elds. Surveys were performed in total of 83 tomato elds in 19 villages including district centre. According to study results 32 taxon (4 genera, 28 different weed species) of 17 families were determined. In the region Amaranthus retro exus L. (redroot amaranth) (4,63 plant/m2), Convolvulus arvensis L. ( eld bindweed) (4,09 plant m-2), Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers. (johnsongrass) (4,06 plant m-2), Solanum nigrum L. (black nightshade) (3,37 plant m-2), Echinochloa colonum (L.) Link. (jungle rice) (3,04 plant m-2), Chenopodium album L. (lambsquarters) (1,88 plant m-2), Portulaca oleracea L. (little hogweed) (1,73 plant m-2), Echinochloa crus- galli (L.) P.B. (barnyardgrass) (1,72 plant m-2) with parasitic weeds Phelipanche ramosa (L.) Pomel (broomrape) (3,73 plant m-2), and Cuscuta sp. (dodder) (1,61 plant m-2) were determined to be the species forming the maximum density. These species are also among the most frequent (the most common) species in the region.

Çalışma sonucunda sürvey alanlarında 17 familyaya ait 4’ü cins, 28’i tür düzeyinde olmak üzere toplam 32 takson tespit edilmiştir. Bölgede Amaranthus retro exus L. (horozibiği) (4,63 bitki m-2), Convolvulus arvensis L. (tarla sarmaşığı) (4,09 bitki m-2) , Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers. (kanyaş) (4,06 bitki m-2), Solanum nigrum L. (köpek üzümü) (3,37 bitki m-2), Echinochloa colonum (L.) Link. (benekli darıcan) (3,04 bitki m-2), Chenopodium album L. (kazayağı) (1,88 bitki m-2), Portulaca oleracea L. (semizotu) (1,73 bitki m-2), Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) P.B.
