Assessment of Noise in Urban Parks: Hüdavendigar Park Example

Abstract

In this study, a survey is held in order to evaluate the opinion of people in Bursa about the noisepollution in Hüdavendigar Urban Park which is located in Nilüfer district, one of the central district of Bursa.Various questions related to personal information and noise pollution in the park have been asked to 93 personscoming to the park for different activities. As a result of the survey, participants think that the noise pollution, as anenvironmental problem, may have health effects. In addition, participants grouped the noise sources as two ways;in-park and out-of-park. They stated that the most noise is from the children’s playgrounds in the park and roadconstruction and maintenance work outside the park. Also, participants think that some precautions could be takenby the local governments in order to prevent noise pollution in the park.
