INFLUENCE OF USING GASOLINE+LPG ON THE PERFORMANCE AND EMISSIONS OF A GASOLINE ENGINE

Abstract
To reduce brake specific fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in internal combustion engine is the start of the investigations on the engines which use dual fuels. In this study, the effect of dual fuel (gasoline+LPG) on performance and emissions had been investigated. For this aim, four-cylinder spark ignition engine was modified to able to operate with gasoline+LPG fuel. As a result, in the dual fuel operation when compared with gasoline operation, specific fuel consumption reduced about 4%, CO decreased nearly 13% and particulate abated 5%.
Özet
İçten yanmalı motorlarda, yakıt tüketimi ve egzoz emisyonlarını en az düzeye indirme çabaları, çift yakıtla çalışan motorlar üzerine yapılan çalışmaların başlangıç noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, çift yakıt (benzin+LPG)’ın performans ve emisyonlara etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla dört silindirli bir benzin motoru benzin+LPG ile çalışabilecek şekilde modifiye edilmiştir. Sonuçta, çift yakıtlı çalışma ile özgül yakıt tüketiminde %4, CO’da %13, partikül’de ise %5 azalma sağlanmıştır.
