Abstract
This article aims to investigate the relation of authority and tradition in philosophy. To understand this relation, the constitutive elements of authority and tradition first need to be clarified. In such a frame we are confronted with two major elements: first, the history of philosophy as the history of recognition, criticism and recollection, and second, the locus of language which gives possibility to those acts. This text discusses the hermeneutic aspects of these topics as well as their contribution to the constitution of a philosophical tradition in Turkey.
