ETHIC AND ITS EDUCATION IN VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN THROUGH THE CONCEPT OF RESPONSIBILITY

Sorumluluk Kavramı Üzerinden Görsel İletişim Tasarımında Etik ve Eğitimi

Abstract

In the design and advertising industry, ethic is observable anywhere from business relationship between designer, client and advertising agency to the potential impacts of the project on which the designer takes part. In addition to issues such as plagiarism and copyright infringements, which are often encountered today,the individual ethical attitude of the designer and a responsible design approach is determinant in the value that the designer creates with the product and its effect to society and nature. In this respect, in order to able to develop an individual ethical attitude, it is important that the students in the education programs of graphic design and visual communication designhave a minimum ethical knowledge. Within this study, it is mentioned the importance of the concept of responsibility in the development of student designers’ ethical attitudes. Related associate degree, undergraduate and graduate programs in Turkey are examined and brought forward some proposals concerning ethical education.

Özet

ÖZTasarım ve reklam endüstrisinde etik, tasarımcı, müşteri, reklam ajansı arasındaki iş ilişkisinden tasarımcının rol aldığı projelerin potansiyel etkilerine kadar birçok yerde görünür. Günümüzde sıklıkla karşılaşılan aşırma, telif hakkı ihlallerinin yanı sıra, tasarımcının tasarladığı ürün ile yaratacağı değer ve bu değerin topluma ve doğaya etkisinde sorumlu tasarım anlayışı ve tasarımcının bireysel etik tavrı belirleyicidir. Bireysel bir etik tavrın geliştirilebilmesi için, grafik tasarım ve görsel iletişim tasarımı eğitimi veren programlardaki öğrencilerin asgari bir etik bilgisine sahip olması önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, öğrenci tasarımcıların etik tavırlarının geliştirilebilmesine sorumluluk kavramı üzerinden değinilmiştir. Türkiye’den seçkisiz olarak seçilen ilgili ön lisans, lisans ve lisansüstü programlar incelenerek etik eğitimine yönelik çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
