Abstract

In connection with socio-economic changes in our century, there has been a change from extended family into a nuclear family type. This change is affecting both rural families and urban families. The number of extended family type providing all kinds of security for the elderly people is decreasing. The changes in the structure of the family cause the weakening of bonds of relations among the members of the family. This situation affects the families and the elderly people who do not have on effective role especially in urban life. Because of this, such people can confort with different problems in family relations. For these problems to be reduced to the minimum, the relations among the generations should be studied in detail from psychological and sociological aspects. Considering the desires and the needs of the elderly and his family the necessary arrangement should be made. The society should be made Conscious of the facts of the life of the elderly people.

Yüzyılımızdaki sosyo-ekonomik değişmelere bağlı olarak geniş aile yapısından çekirdek aileye dönüşüm hem kent hem de kırsal bölgelerdeki aileleri büyük ölçüde etkilemekte yaşlıya her türlü güvence sağlayan geniş aile sayısı azalmaktadır. Aile yapısındaki değişimlerakraba ilişkilerinin zayıflamasına neden olmakta, özellikle şehir hayatında etkin bir ekonomik role sahip olmayan yaşlılar ve aileleri bu durumdan etkilenerek aile ilişkilerinde farklı sorunlarla karşılaşılabilmektedirler. Bu sorunların en aza indirilebilmesi için; Kuşaklararası ilişkiler psikolojik ve sosyolojik açıdan detaylı incelenmelidir. Yaşlı ve ailesinin istek ve ihtiyaçları dikkate alınarak gerekli organizasyonlar yapılmalıdır. Toplum yaşlılık ve yaşlılık dönemi özellikleri konusunda bilinçlendirilmesidir.
