Social Work Students’ HIV/AIDS Knowledge and Attitudes Toward the Persons with HIV/AIDS

Abstract
The number of the persons that are affected from HIV/AIDS has been growing. The main purpose of this research is to determine the AIDS knowledge and attitudes toward persons with HIV/AIDS of HÜ School of Social Work students and 82 students included in this research. As a result, AIDS knowledge is generally high and having special education on AIDS has great effect on AIDS knowledge level. Beside, students have positive attitudes toward the persons with HIV/AIDS. It is determined that there is statistically important difference on the variable of sex, and female students have more positive attitudes toward the persons with AIDS than male students.
Özet
HIV/AİDS hastalığından etkilenenlerin sayısı giderek artmaktadır. HÜ Sosyal Hizmetler Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin AIDS konusundaki bilgi düzeylerini ve AIDS’ti kişilere yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılan bu araştırma 82 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. A-raştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin AIDS konusundaki bilgi düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu ve AIDS konusunda eğitimin bilgi düzeyini anlamlı düzeyde artırdığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin AIDS’ti kişilere yönelik tutumlarının olumlu olduğu saptanmıştır. Cinsiyet açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde bir tutum farklılığı olduğu saptanmış ve kız öğrencilerin AIDS'ti kişilere tutumlarının erkeklere göre daha anlamlı olduğu belirlenmiştir.
