THE TRANSFORMATION MOTIFS IN THE FAIRY TALES COLLECTED FROM TUNCELI

Abstract

Tales, as part of the oral narrative tradition, are the oldest products that have reached the present day as a cultural heritage. The basic expectation of people on the tale type is based on extraordinary events. One of the most interesting ones of these extraordinary events seen in tales is that any tale heroes are transformed into other beings by shifting their shapes for various reasons. This transformation takes place sometimes with and sometimes without the will of the hero. In this type, shapeshifting is indeed used to rescue the hero who is in trouble and with reward and punishment functions, and it is seen that the shapeshifting is reversed except for punishment when these functions are completed. Within the scope of the doctoral thesis that is being prepared, it was seen that the shapeshifting was included among tales compiled from Tunceli. The tales, in which this motif came forward,were compiled from nine source people in Tunceli. According to eleven tales compiled, the shapeshifting motif will be addressed within the subtitles of transformation into stone, an animal, a plant, water, a supernatural being, a mine, and a human and the reflection of this motif in fairy tales will be investigated.

Sözlü anlatı geleneğinin bir parçası olarak masallar, bir kültür mirası şeklinde günümüze ulaşmış en eski ürünlerdendir. İnsanların masal türüne dair temel beklentisi olağanüstülükler üzerine kuruludur. Masallarda görülen olağanüstülüklerin en ilgi çekici olanlarından biri herhangi bir masal kahramanının çeşitli sebeplerle şekil değiştirerek başka varlıklara dönüşmesidir. Bu dönüşüm bazen kahramanın iradesi ile bazen de iradesi dışında gerçekleşir. Bu türde aslında şekil değiştirme zor durumdaki kahramanı kurtarma, ödül ve ceza işlevleriyle kullanılmakta ve işlev tamamlandıktan sonra cezalandırma dışındaki şekil değiştirmelerin geriye döndüğü görülmektedir. Hazırlanmakta olan doktora tez çalışması kapsamında Tunceli ilinden derlenen masallar içinde de şekil değiştirmeye yer verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Bu motifin öne çıktığı masallar Tunceli ilinde dokuz kaynak kişiden derlenmiştir. Derlenen on bir masala göre şekil değiştirme motifi; taşa dönüşme, hayvana dönüşme, bitkiye dönüşme, suya dönüşme, tabiatüstü varlıklara dönüşme, madene dönüşme ve insana dönüşme alt başlıkları dâhilinde ele alınacak ve bu motifin masallardaki yansıması incelenecektir.
