Women Employment in the View of Social Work

Abstract

Gender eguality and the status of woman in the society are important problems discussed in our country. The cause of this discussion is that the rights and responsibilities of women are not equal to those of men. Although there is some progress in legislation, especially during the European Union process; discrimination and abuse of women is going on in practice. One of the important areas in gender discrimination is employ- ment. Women can not fınd employment as sufficiently as expected. This article aims to discuss the woman employment problem and to review the situation in Turkey in the view of social work profession and at the base of gender concept.

Özet

Kadın erkek eşitliği ve kadının toplumdaki statüsü, ülkemizde tartışılan önemli bir sorundur. Tartışılmasının nedenleri arasında kadınların erkeklerle eşit hak ve sorumluluklarla toplumdaki yerlerini alamaması bulunmaktadır. Özellikle Avrupa Birliği sürecinde bazı hukuki İlerlemeler sağlansa da, uygulamada kadınlara yönelik ayrımcılık ve istismar durumlarına sıklıkla rastlanmaktadır. Kadınların ayrımcılığa uğradığı önemli alanlardan birisi de istihdamdır. Kadınlar istihdam yaşamına arzu edilen ölçüde dâhil olamamaktadır. Bu makale, kadın istihdamı sorununu toplumsal cinsiyet kavramı temelinde sosyal hizmet mesleğinin bakışıyla tartışmayı ve Türkiye’deki durumu özetlemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
