The Organizaton Experıences of Social Workers as a Combat Practice: An Analysis in The Scope of Istanbul

BİR MÜCADELE PRATİĞİ OLARAK SOSYAL HİZMET UZMANLARININ ÖRGÜTLENME DENEYİMLERİ: İSTANBUL İLİ KAPSAMINDA BİR ANALİZ

Abstract

The professional and academic qualification of social work around the world and the need to organize the services in a way to produce solutions to the common social problems becomes visible wih the increase in the determinism of capitalism in social life. The aim of this study is to examine the occuptional organization processes and the reasons of maintaining occuptional organization of social workers, who implement practices implementations with multidisciplinary approaches and techniques to solve the increasing and deepening social problems as a result of the domination of capitalist production relations over the social life, in the scale of Istanbul. In this context, through the semi-structured interview form, in-depth interviews were conducted with 34 social worker working in various institutions in Istanbul. In the interviews, social workers stated that being organized contributed to the development of social work discipline and profession. Findings of this research indicate that, being organized in accordance with undergraduate education and other training related to their professions contributes to the development of social work profession and discipline. In addition being organized provides gains in terms of working conditions and personel rights, and the need for intervention in the social policies in force also requires it.

Özet

Dünya genelinde sosyal hizmetin mesleki ve akademik bir nitelik kazanması ve sunulan hizmetlerin yaygınlaşan sosyal sorunlara çözüm üretecek biçimde düzenlenmesi ihtiyacı, kapitalizmin toplumsal yaşamdaki belirleyiciliğinin artmasıyla görünür olmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapitalist üretim ilişkilerinin toplumsal yaşama egemen olmasıyla birlikte artan ve derinleşen sosyal sorunların çözümü amacıyla, multidisipliner yaklaşım ve tekniklerle uygulamalar gerçekleştiren sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının, örgütlenme süreçlerini ve örgütlülüğü sürdürme nedenlerini İstanbul ili ölçeğinde incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla İstanbul'da çeşitli kurumlarda çalışan 34 sosyal hizmet uzmanıyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının lisans eğitimleri ve meslekleriyle ilgili diğer eğitimlere uygun olarak örgütlü olmanın sosyal hizmet mesleğinin ve disiplinin gelişmesine katkısı olduğunu, örgütlü olmanın çalışma koşulları ve özlük hakları açısından kazanımlar sağladığını, yürürlükte bulunan sosyal politikalara müdahale ihtiyacının örgütlü olmayı gerektirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır.
