Is Possible Referring to a Document Summary on the Archival Catalogue? (A Sample of Incongruity between the Original Document and the Archival Catalogue)

ARŞİV KATALOGUNDAKİ ÖZETE ATIF YAPILIR MI? (BELGE-KATALOG UYUMSUZLUĞUNA DAİR BİR ÖRNEK)

Abstract

Archive catalogues serve as guidance to reach the documents. Researchers can form an opinion about a document and if it is necessary for study, they take it and research. With this, a question can come to mind: “is referring to a document summary on the catalogue possible, without seeing the document?” Although classification of archi¬ve documents is based on some methods and principles, it is not free of wrong and incompleteness. For this reason, seeing differences between a document and catalogue is always possible. In other words, referring to summary on the catalogue without seeing document is not appropriate and obviously is misleading for researcher. In this paper, using two sample interrelatedness archive documents and their summaries on the archive catalogue, I handled this issue.

Özet

Arşiv katalogları, belgeye ulaşmada bir kılavuz hükmündedirler. Katalogdaki özet sayesinde belge hakkında fikir elde edilir. Çalışma için gerekliyse, ona ulaşılır ve ondan istifade edilir. Hal böyle iken, akla “belgeye, ona ulaşmadan katalogdaki özet üzerinden atıf yapmak mümkün müdür?” şeklinde bir soru gelebilir. Her ne kadar, tasnif işlemi birtakım usul ve esasa dayansa da, yanlıştan ve noksandan ari değildir. Bu yüzden, arşiv katalogundaki bilgilerle, belge asılları arasında farklılıklar olması olasıdır. Diğer bir deyişle, belgeye, ona ulaşmadan arşiv katalogundaki özet üzerinden atıf yapmak, usule aykırı, yanlışa götürme ihtimali olan tehlikeli bir iştir. Çalışmamızda bu durum, birbiriyle bağlantılı olan iki örnek belge ve bunların katalogdaki özetleri üzerinden, ele alınmıştır.
