Abstract
OBJECTIVE: We report our experience concerning the laparoscopic treatment of ectopic pregnancy (EP). STUDY DESING: Fiftyeight women with EP were treated successfully by laparoscopic approach in our department, between 1992 and June 1996. Of 58 patients operated by laparoscopy, 20(35%) were treated conservatively by linear salpingotomy and 18(31%) were treated by segmental excision and 14(24%) were treated by salpingectomy. The other six patients who have tubal abortus were.made homeostasis by bipolar electrosurgical forceps. Mean operative time for laparoscopy was 40 min (Range 15-120 min). RESULTS: These 58 cases of tubal pregnancy benefited from the operative laparoscopic techniques which reduce perioperative morbidity, length of hospital stay, and recovery time. No complications were noted in our series. CONCLUSION: Our conclusion is that laparoscopic management is an efficacious, safe and cost-effective approach for the resolution of EP.
