Abstract
A review of 225 twin pregnancies was undertaken. The prevalence of twin birth was found to be nine '' ^ per -i 000 deliveries. The mean gestational age at birth was 36 ±3.4 weeks with 51.3% of the patients >37 weeks. The birth weight was below 2500 grams in 69% of the infants and the average birth weight )et of twins A and B were 2452 and 2422 g respectively. Preterm labor was present in 51.3% of the cases stet and preterm birth rate was found to be 45.3%. Perinatal mortality occurred in 52 cases; for twin A in 24 and for twin B in 28 and the perinatal mortality rate was 8 times higher than that of singleton :ies pregnancies during the corresponding time period. The results of this retrospective data analysis 85; reveal that our policy in management of twin gestation is proven to be favourable. (Gynecol Obstet Reprod Med 1997; 3:408-412)
