Abstract
Nonketotic hyperglycinemia is a metabolic disorder with autosomal recessive inheritance, causing severe, frequently lethal, neurological symptoms in the neonatal period. We report 23-year-old patient who presented to our clinic with 39 weeks of pregnancy. She had no history of any familial disease. The patient delivered a male infant of 2900 g by cesarean section with Apgar scores of 10 and 10 at 1 and 5 minutes, respectively. The infant developed progressive neurological symptoms and diagnosed as having nonketotic hyperglycinemia after laboratory assays. The combination of chorionic villus sampling gylcine cleavage assay and amniotic fluid glycine measurement is currently the best approach to the prenatal diagnosis of nonketotic hyperglycinemia.
