Normal data and diagnostic value of superficial radial nerve sensory conduction

Abstract
In this study, 125 healthy people and 177 patients from various disease groups were accepted in order to determine the normal sensory conduction data of superficial radial nerve of our own laboratory and the diagnostic value of this nerve conduction study in the various diseases. We found that the latency, amplitude and conduction velocity of superficial radial nerve in the healthy group are 1.68 ± 0.18 msc, 30.7 ± 11.2 uV and 52.2 ±4.3 m/sc respectively.Abnormality values of superficial radial nerve conduction in the hereditary motor sensory neuropathies, lesions of radial nerve, total brachial pleksopathles, unidentified type sensorymotor polineuropathies, diabetic mononeuropathy multipleks and diabetic sensorymotor polineuropathies were 100, 89.5, 57.1, 23.1, 20 and 16.7 per cent respectively. Conduction study was normal in the partial lesions of brachial plexus, lesions of the deep brunch of radial nerve, radial nerve entrapments at the spiral groove, myopathies, motor neuron diseases, carpal tunnel syndromes and ulnar nerve entrapments at the elbow. We concluded that to perform the sensory conduction study of superficial radial nerve is easy and may provide help especially for the diagnosis of the first three diseases mentioned above.

Yüzeyel radiyal sinir (YRS), duyu iletiminin laboratuvarımıza ait normal değerlerinin elde edilmesinin ve bu iletim çalışmasının, değişik hastalıklardaki anormalite değerinin saptanmasının amaçlandığı bu çalışmaya, 125 normal ve farklı hastalık gruplarından 177 hasta alınmıştır. Normallerde YRSden elde edilen duyu aksiyon potansiyelinin latansı 1.68 ± 0.18 msn, genliği 30.7 ± 11.2 uV, iletim hız/ 52.2 ± 4.3 m/sn bulunmuştur. Herediter motor sensoriyel nöropatilerde, radiyal sinir lezyonlarmda, total brakiyal pleksopatilerde, nedeni saptanmamış sensor/motor polinöropatilerde, diyabetik mononöropati multipleks ve diyabetik sensori-motor polinöropatilerde YRS iletiminin anormalite değerleri sırasıyla %100,% 89.5, % 57.1, % 23.1, % 20 ve % 16.7 bulunmuştur. Parsiyel brakiyalpleksus lezyonlarmda, radiyal sinirin derin dalının lezyonlarmda ve spiral oluk tuzak nöropatilerinde, miyopatilerde, motor nöron hastalıklarında, karpal tünel sendromunda ve ulnar sinirin dirsekteki tuzak nöropatilerinde YRS iletimi normal bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak bu iletim çalışmasının yapılmasının kolay ve özellikle yukarıda sayılan ilk üç hastalık grubunda tanıya yardımcı olabileceği kanısına varılmıştır.
