The considerations about and expectations from in-service training programs of the nurses working at the intensive care units of the education hospital of Gulhane Military Medical Faculty

Abstract

Developments in science and technology made continuous education of health care personnel necessary to follow and adapt to innovations on time in medicine. This continuous education may be provided by in-service training. This descriptive study was planned to determine the considerations about and expectations from in-service training programs of the nurses working at the intensive care units of the education hospital of Gulhane Military Medical Faculty. The study was performed aiming to contact to 102 personnel constituting the study population, however 90 nurses responded to the survey. It was found that nurses' expectations from in-service training were rather high (2.92 out of 3.00 points). It was also found that inservice training given met their expectations to a large extent. However, there are improvement opportunities in determining topics of training by giving importance to participants' opinions, and inservice training planning so that it can improve team spirit.

Özet

Bilim ve teknolojideki gelişmeler, diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi sağlık alanında da, yeniliklerin anında izlenmesi ve bu yeniliklere anında ayak uydurulabilmesi için sağlık personelinin sürekli eğitimini zorunlu kılmıştır. Bu sürekli eğitim de hizmet içi eğitimle sağlanabilmektedir. Bu araştırma, Gülhane Askeri Tıp Fakültesi Eğitim Hastanesi Yoğun Bakım Ünitelerinde görev yapan yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin, hizmet içi eğitimler ile ilgili beklentilerinin ve bu eğitimlerin etkinliği konusundaki düşüncelerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırma, evreni oluşturan 102 kişiye ulaşmaya çalışarak 90 kişiden veri elde edilmesiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, hemşirelerin, hizmet içi eğitimlerden beklentilerinin oldukça yüksek olduğu (beklenti puanı, üç tam puan üzerinden 2.92 olarak hesaplanmıştır) saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, verilen hizmet içi eğitimlerin beklentileri büyük ölçüde karşıladığı tespit edilmiştir. Ancak, eğitim konuları belirlenirken katılımcıların görüşlerine önem verilmesi ve eğitimlerin ekip ruhunu geliştirecek şekilde planlanması konularında iyileştirme fırsatları bulunmaktadır.
