The effect of oral single dose amiodarone on new onset atrial fibrillation

Abstract
The effect of amiodarone has been proved in long term maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Our case report evaluates the efficacy and safety of a single oral dose of amiodarone in patients with recent - onset atrial fibrillation. Three patients have been given 30 mg/kg of oral amiodarone. Conversion to sinus rhythm was verified in 24 hours. Amiodarone was hemodynamically well tolerated. Amiodarone as a single oral dose of 30 mg/kg appears to be effective and safe in patients with recent - onset atrial fibrillation.
Özet
Amiodaronun paroksismal atrial fibrilasyonlu hastalarda sinüs ritmini sağladığı daha önce bildirilmiştir. Vakalarımızda yeni başlayan atrial fibrilasyonun oral tek doz amiodaronla 24 saat içerisinde sinüs ritmine döndüğünü gördük. 30 mg/kg oral doz amiodaronu hastalar iyi tolere ettiler. Yeni başlayan atrial fibrilasyonlu hastalarda 30 mg/kg oral tek doz amiodaron etkili ve güvenlidir.
