Abstract
Spinal cord injured patients carry a number of potential complications in the rest of their lives. One of the complications is pressure sore. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the various demographic, clinical and laboratory risk factors for the development of pressure sores in the hospitalized spinal cord-injured patients. 74 patients included in the study and 21 of them were with pressure sores, 53 of them were with out pressure soles (% 28,4 and % 71,6) respectively). Serum cholesterol levels and a lot of complications encountered during the rehabilitation were significantly associated with pressure sores (p< 0.001). Age, smoking blood pressure, level of injury, completeness of spinal cord injury, spasticity, fecal and urinary incontinence, functional level of the patient, hemoglobin and hematocrite. 7 values, serum total protein and trigliserid levels and length of stay (p> 0.05) were not significantly associated with pressure sores. Development of pressure sores should be prevented by early diagnosis, prevention and the therapy of the risk factors such as decreased serum albumin and cholesterol levels and other complications.
Bunların en fazla bilinenlerinden biri bası yaralarıdır(BY).
