Abstract
Although Mycoplasma (M.) pneumoniae infections are common among school children and young adults, they have been rarely reported in renal transplant recipients. Herein, we report an eight year old boy who had M. pneumoniae infection one year after the transplantation and showed liver dysfunction during the course of the disease. In children who underwent renal transplantation and receiving immunosuppressive treatment, we suggest that symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection may precede M. pneumoniae disease with potentially serious extrapulmonary complications.
Özet
Mycoplasma (M.) pneumoniae infeksiyonları okul çocukları ve genç erişkinlerde sık görülmekle birlikte renal transplantlılarda nadir olarak bildirilmektedir. Burada sekiz yaşındaki bir erkek hastada renal transplantasyon sonrası birinci yılda görülen M. pneumoniae infeksiyonu ve hastalığın seyri sırasında gelişen karaciğer fonksiyon bozukluğu bildirilmiştir. Renal transplantlı ve immunsupressif tedavi altındaki çocuk hastalarda, üst solunum yolu infeksiyonu semptomlarının, M. pneumoniae infeksiyonu ve onun ciddi akciğer dışı komplikasyonlanndan önce oluşabileceği hatırda tutulmalıdır.
