Case report: Acute dystonia developing due to metoclopramide

Abstract
Metoclopramide is a dopamine receptor antagonist and frequently used as an antiemetic drug. Acute dystonia is a rare side effect developing especially in children and young adults within the 1st-3rd days of metoclopramide treatment. In this article a pediatric case followed up with the diagnosis of acute dystonia developing due to metoclopramide is presented, and it is emphasized that metoclopramide side effect should be considered in children presenting with acute dystonia.
Özet
Metoklopramid, dopamin reseptör antagonisti olup, antiemetik olarak sık kullanılan bir ilaçtır. Akut distoni, metoklopramid tedavisinin 1-3. günlerinde, özellikle çocuklarda ve genç erişkinlerde ortaya çıkan nadir bir yan etkidir. Bu makalede metoklopramide bağlı akut distoni tanısı ile izlenen bir pediatrik olgu sunulmuş ve akut distoni ile gelen çocuk hastalarda, metoklopramid yan etkisinin de düşünülmesi gerektiği vurgulanmıştır.
