The frequency of focal infections in patients with urticaria

Abstract

Objective: In this study, we aimed to determine the frequency of focal infectionsv and the most frequent focal infections seen in patients with urticaria and to investigate the relations of these infections with age, sex and professions. Methods: 286 patients with urticaria were examined. Each focal infection was diagnosed by its own related department with necessary laboratory studies. Results: 181 patients (% 63.3) had at least one focal infection. The frequency of infection was not significantly different between sexes and between professions. It was significantly higher in middle aged group. The most frequent location of infection was upper respiratory tract. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that infections may play an important roje in the etiology of urticaria.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Ürtikerli hastalarda fokal enfeksiyonların oranını, en sık rastlanan fokal enfeksiyonları ve bunların yaş, cins ve meslekle ilişkilerini saptamayı amaçladık. Yöntem: 286 Ürtikerli hastada fokal infeksiyon olup olmadığı ilgili klinik tarafındanlaboratuvar çalışmaları ile araştırıldı. Bulgular: 181 olguda (% 63.3) en az bir enfeksiyon odağının bulunduğu saptandı. Her iki cins ve meslekler arasında fokal enfeksiyon görülme oranı farklı değildi. Enfeksiyonların orta yaş grubunda daha fazla olduğu saptandı. En sık görülen odak üst solunum yollarıydı. Sonuç: Bulgular ürtiker Biyolojisinde enfeksiyonun gözardı edilemeyeceğini göstermektedir.
