Scar related endometriosis ( Case report )

Abstract

Objective: It was aimed to discuss a rare scar related endometriosis case in the light of the literature. Case report: We presented a 23-years-old woman who had been suffering of pain and swelling in cesarean section scar for 3 years duration. The symptoms were usually associated with the menstrual cycle and worsened on coughing and during exercise. At operation, a 3x2 cm nodule was excised from the depths of the scar, and endometriosis was found on histopathological examination. Conclusion: Endometriosis should also be considered in the differential diagnosis of abdominal scar lessions following gynecological operations.

Özet

Amaç: Skar endometriozisi teşhisi konulan bir vakanın nadir görülmesi nedeniyle literatür bilgileri ışığında tartışılması amaçlandı. Olgu sunumu: Seksio skarı bölgesinde üç yıl içerisinde gelişmiş ağrılı kitle şikayeti olan 23 yaşındaki bir kadın hastayı sunduk. Semptomlar genellikle menstrül siklus esnasında ortaya çıkmakta olup, öksürük ve egzersiz esnasında daha da artmakta idi. Operasyonda skar dokusu altından 3x2 cm'lik nodül çıkartıldı ve histopatolojik inceleme ile endometriozis teşhisi konuldu. Sonuç: Jinekolojik operasyonlardan sonra gelişen abdominal skar lezyonlarının teşhisinde endometriozis akla gelmelidir.
