The effect of different temperatures and relative humidities on development of Carpoglyphus lactis (L., 1758) (Acari: Carpoglyphidae)

Abstract

Carpoglyphus lactis (Linnaeus, 1758) (Astigmata: Carpoglyphidae) is known the most important pest species from dried apricots among the stored product pests. The aim of this paper is investigate of the biological parameters of C. lactis at three different temperatures (18 °C, 23 °C, 28 °C), 65 % and 80 % relative humidities at laboratory conditions. The duration of immature stage is 5-12 days in the different combinations of temperature and relative humidities. Increases in temperatures and relative humidities accelerated the time of duration of the mite. Adult longevity was ranged from 11-68 days in the different combinations of temperature and relative humidities. The longest longevity of C. lactis obtained as 68 days for females and 66.95 days for males at 18 °C and 65 % r.h. The duration of oviposition period is 6.80 – 4.46 days in different temperature and relative humidities. Average egg laying capacites of females were ranged from 26.62 - 41.23 depending on the temperatures and relative humidities. The highest number of C. lactis’s eggs were obtained as 41.23 at 28 °C and 80 % r.h. The sex ratio was ranged from 0.36-0.62 in the different combinations of temperature and relative humidities.

Carpoglyphus lactis (Linnaeus, 1758) (Acari: Carpoglyphidae) kuru kayısılarda bilinen en önemli zararlı akar türüdür. Bu çalışmada C. lactis’in 18 °C, 23 °C ve 28 °C sıcaklık değerlerinde ve % 65 ve % 80 orantılı nem değeri kombinasyonlarında biyolojik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Akarın gelişme süresi 5-12 gün arasında değişmektedir. Sıcaklık ve orantılı nem artışıyla birlikte gelişme süresi kısalmıştır. Ergin ömür uzunluğu 11-68 gün arasında değişim göstermiştir. En uzun ergin ömrü 18 °C ve % 65 orantılı nem koşullarında dişi bireyde 68 gün, erkek bireyde 66.95 gün olarak bulunmuştur. Akarın ovipozisyon süresi 6.80-4.46 gün arasında değişmektedir. Dişi başına ovipozisyon süresince yumurta verimi sıcaklık ve neme bağlı olarak 26.62 ile 41.23 arasında değişmektedir. En yüksek yumurta verimi 28°C ve % 80 nem koşullarında 41.23 adettir. Cinsiyet oranı 0.36 ile 0.62 arasında olup bu değerde sıcaklık ve neme bağlı olarak değişmektedir.
