Thrombolytic therapy in acute occlusions of the popliteal artery: Report of 3 cases

Abstract

Urgent surgical revascularisation is the prevalant method of treatment for acute thrombotic obstructions of the peripheric ar¬teries. But some recent reports have emphasized the role of intra-arterial thrombolytic treatment with success rates similar or exceeding surgical treatment and lower morbidity rates in selected patients. The authors have utilized this method which most vascular surgeons consider with contempt in three patients with acute thrombotic obstruction of the popliteal trifucation and have obtained satisfactory results. In this report the authors present these cases with their easy to use method of thrombolytic therapy.

Özet

Distal periferik arterlerin akut trombotik obstrüksiyonlarında acil cerrahi revasküiarizasyon temel tedavi şeklidir. Ancak günümüzde, bazı seçilmiş olgularda intraarteriyel trombolitik tedavi sonuçlarının cerrahi tedavi kadar başarılı olduğunu hatta daha düşük oranlarda morbiditeye yol açtığını gösteren çalışmalar bildirilmektedir. Çoğu vasküler cerrah tarafından sıcak bakılmayan bu tedavi yöntemi popliteal arter trifukasyonunda embolik oklüzyonla başvuran üç olguda uygulandı. Beklen¬medik şekilde kısa sürede alınan başarılı sonuçları ve pratik tedavi şeklinin burada sunulması amaçlandı
