Abstract
This study examined the existence of asymmetric relations between exchange rate and macroeconomic variables was examined using monthly series between 2010-2020. While the nominal rate of Turkish Lira against USD in the study represents the exchange rate; Borsa İstanbul 100 closing series, interest rate, inflation and M2 money supply are the preferred macroeconomic variables. The Wald test was used in the testing of the hypothesis of the existence of an asymmetric relation between the variables. Accordingly, the existence of an asymmetric relation between variables was accepted. According to Wald test results, the exchange rate was reviewed as the cumulative expression of the positive and negative components of variables in the short and long term. n the long term in the NARDL model; While Borsa İstanbul index affects the exchange rate negatively and significantly in positive and negative components; It was found that interest rate, inflation and M2 money supply positively and significantly affect the exchange rate.
