Abstract

Convergence hypothesis which advocates the per capita growth rate tends to be inversely related to the starting level of income per person denotes poor count- ries or regions tend to growth faster than rich ones and real growth rate of the- se two economies close to one another in the long run. In this study, we inves- tigate whether convergence hypothesis is valid as general and sector specific for NUTS-2 covered 26 sub-regions of Turkey over the period 2004-2008. Using nonlinear panel regression analysis we find there is convergence across gross added values of regions. In addition, we determine that regions’ agricultural, in- dustry and service sectors convergence one another.
