The effects of pollen collection frequency on colony development and honey production in honey bee colonies

Abstract
n this study, effects of production pollen were investigated on effectiveness of hatchery production, adult worker bee population development and honey yield of colony. During the investigation, totally 25 colonies were used and divided into five groups after been equalized for queen age and colony popu lation strength. This investigation was carried out to between,25.04 05.08.2008. These treatments were the first group trapped continuously, second group trapped skip a day, Third group trapped 3 day and 3 day un trapped, fourth group trapped 6 day and 6 d ays un trapped and fifth group as control colonies. According to the results obtained, these groups have had averages of framed bees number as, 7.59±0.29, 7.85±0.35, 8.14±0.40, 8.02±0.31 and 8.09±0.33; averages of brood areas 2858,73±132,6, 2914,58±125,5, 2897,55±129,5, 2860,72±119,9 and 2941,02±144,2 cm² /colony, averages of honey yields as 19.86 ±1.16, 20.60±1.71, 18.95±1.45, 21.60±1.73, 21.50±1.86 and 20.50 ±1.58 kg; averages of pollen yields 2080,00±113,50, 1215,00±49.60, 896,50±41.25 and 1050,50±38. 00 gr, respectively. İn the study, pollen trapping did not show significant negative effect on the colony development and honey yield.
Özet
Bu çalışma, bal arısı (Apis melifera L.) kolonilerinde, polen üretiminin; kuluçka üretim etkinliği, populasyon gelişimi ve bal verimi üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada; ana arı yaşı ve koloni populasyon güçleri eşitlenerek beş farklı gruba ayrılan 25 adet koloni kullanılmıştır. Tokat ili Batmantaş köyünde yürütülmüştür. Bu gruplar, polen tuzağı sürekli açık olan 1. grup, bir gün arayla takılan II. grup, üç gün takılıp üç gün takılmayan III. grup, altı gü n takılıp altı gün takılmayan IV. grup ve hiç takılmayan V. grup olarak düzenlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesi sonucunda; gruplarda ortalama arılı çerçeve sayıları sırasıyla, 7.59±0.29, 7.85±0.35, 8.14±0.40, 8.02±0.31 ve 8.09±0.33 adet/kol oni; kuluçka etkinliği ortalama sırasıyla 2858,73±132,6, 2914,58±125,5, 2897,55±129,5, 2860,72±119,9 ve 2941,02±144,2 cm²/koloni; bal verimi ortalamaları sırasıyla, 19.86 ±1.16, 20.60±1.71, 18.95±1.45, 21.60±1.73, 21.50±1.86 ve 20.50 ±1.58 kg/koloni ve gru pların toplam polen verimleri ise sırasıyla, 2080,00±113,50, 1215,00±49.60, 896,50±41.25 ve 1050,50±38.00 g olarak tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada polen üretiminin bal arısı kolonilerinin gelişimine ve bal üretimine olumsuz etkisinin olmadığı görülmüştür (P<0.01).
