Abstract

This research was conducted between 2018 and 2019 in the organic and conventional production parcels of the “Research, Application and Production Farm” of the Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Agriculture. Only inputs that have been allowed were used in the conventional and organic parcels. In both trial years, it has been determined that pepper plants in traditional parcels develop faster and form higher plants than organic parcels. The average plant height and diameter in the organic plot were 33.43 cm, 29.97 cm, respectively, while the average plant height and diameter in the conventional plot were 43.27 cm and 39.07 cm, respectively. Depending on this, fruit and seed values increased in the conventional parcel. Seed weight per fruit, seed number and 1000 grain weight in organic parcel respectively; While 1.7 g / fruit, 209.51 pieces / fruit and 5.48 g, seed weight, number and 1000 grain weight per fruit in conventional parcel were respectively; 3.25 g / fruit, 293.35 pcs / fruit and 6.49 g were determined. When the quality characteristics of fruits of plants cultivated for seed production were examined in both harvest periods, while difference between the production methods was found as significant (, p≤0.01) in terms of yield, average fruit number, fruit weight and length, difference between years was insignificant. In the study, it was found that conventional production and first harvest values were higher in pepper seed production in general. For this reason, it was pointed out that there is a decrease in yield in organic seed production, however this form of production is important for sustainability and healthy nutrition and the importance of extracting of seed from fruits at the first harvest.
