Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine and a qualitative analyze the 100 most cited articles in otorhinolaryngology in Turkey between 1945-2018. Methods: Web of Science search tools were used to identify the 100 most-cited articles relevant to otorhinolaryngology within the selected science citation index (SCI) and SCI Expanded journals in Turkey. The following information was recorded for each article: publication year, journal, impact factor of journal, article related to otorhinolaryngology sub-discipline, number of citations, number of annual citations and citation index. Results: The total number of publications in otorhinolaryngology from Turkey is 4659 and 37.104 is the total number of citations (when self-referenced citations are removed: 32902). Mean number of citations for papers was 7,97. The 100 most cited papers in otorhinolaryngology had received a total of 5405 citations. Mean number of citations for papers was 52,99. The most frequently cited paper was found to be that of Sennaroglu et al. (Laryngoscope, 112:2230-2241, 2002) introducing a new classification for cochleovestibular malformations (230 citation). Six of the articles in the first 10 paper according to the number of citations from the publications in our study are the articles in the top 10 in the citation index ranking. The correlation between the total number of citations of the publications in the first 10 and the index of citations was observed. Conclusion: Although our country has started writing articles to be published in SCI and SCI Expanded indexes quite late compared to other countries, it is in a very good place due to its excellent performance in a short time and it will increase this performance in the future and get better.

(Laryngoscope, 112:2230-2241, 2002) tarafından yayınlanan "A new classification for cochleovestibular malformations" isimli yayındır (230 atıf).
