Abstract

Soviet Union had several meetings during the World War II with England and the US concerning the changes in the regimes of the straits. In the aftermath of the WW II, Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Selim Sarper visited Ministry of Foreign Affairs Molotov on 7 June 1945. During the visit Molotov demanded changes in the Soviet Union - Turkey border and claimed the territories of Kars and Ardahan. Besides Molotov also asked places for bases on the straits and Montreux Convention to be updated. In this article the attitude of the Turkish press towards the demands of the Soviet Union is evaluated with respect to the news publish concerning the issue. In addition, the article will also put light on Turkey’s shift to the Western Block in the following few years.

Özet

Sovyetler Birliği, II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında, önce Almanya’yla, daha sonra da ABD ve İngiltere’yle yaptığı görüşmelerde Boğazların rejiminin değiştirilmesini gündeme getirdi. Moskova Büyükelçisi Selim Sarper’in 7 Haziran 1945’te, Molotov’a yaptığı ziyarette, Türki- ye’nin Doğu sınırında değişiklik yapılarak Kars ve Ardahan’ın Sovyetler’e verilmesi, Boğaz- larda üs tahsis edilmesi ve 1936 tarihli Montreux Sözleşmesi’nin değiştirilmesi talep etti. Bu yazıda basında yer alan haberler ve yapılan yorumlar değerlendirilerek Türk basınının tutumu değerlendirilecek. Ayrıca 1945 ve izleyen birkaç yılın basını incelenerek Türkiye’nin Batı Bloku’na dahil olması sorununun kökenine ışık tutulacaktır.
