Atresia of the appendix vermiformis: A case report and review of the literature

Abstract
Atresia of the appendix vermiformis is very rare condition, and has been reported previously only in a male newborn who has multiple jejunal atresia. In this case report, the authors present a unique case of atresia of the appendix vermiformis which was detected during routine abdominal exploration in a 3-day-old female newborn with colonic atresia.
Özet
Apendiks vermiformis atrezisi ender görülen bir anomalidir. Daha önce yalnızca, çok sayıda incebağırsak (jejunum) atrezisi olan bir yenidoğanda görüldüğü rapor edilmiştir. Bu olgu sunumunda, kalınbağırsak atrezisi nedeni ile ameliyat edilen üç günlük bir kız bebekte rastlantısal olarak belirlenen apendiks vermiformis atrezisi bildirilmiştir.
