The Solutions to the Problem of Evil in the Religion Courses

Abstract

Attempts to reconciliate the existence of evils with the religious beliefs are seen throughout history. Intellectuals and philosophers debated on this continuous issue called ‘the problem of evil’. It has been difficult for many to understand how God (Allah) Almighty, who is omnipotent, omniscent and omnibenevolent does not prevent evils that harm innocent humans and the other livings. It may be clearly said that some individuals are in need of a sufficient guidance regarding the matter in question. Since the problem of evil is directly related to the religion, the ones to provide people with such guidance are the religious educators. This study based on scientific data aims to suggest ideas about how a religion course dealing with the solutions to the problem of evil should be. In the study, advisory comments on which teaching techniques and methods should be used can be found. The fact that there is a dearth of scientific works concerning how the problem of evil should be dealt with in the religious education proves the significance of the study.

Kötülüklerin varlığının dini inançlarla telif edilmesi öteden beri sorun olmuştur. İlmi, kudreti ve merhameti sonsuz yüce Allah’ın, masum canlıların zarar görmelerine yol açan felaketlere engel olmamasının hikmetinin kavranmasında güçlükler yaşanmıştır. Birçok insan bu güçlükleri halen yaşamaya devam etmektedir. İnsanların bu noktada nitelikli bir rehberlik hizmetine ihtiyaç duydukları açıktır. Söz konusu meselenin din ile doğrudan alakalı olması bu hizmetin öncelikle din eğitimcileri tarafından yapılmasını gerektirmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, kötülük probleminin çözümünü konu edinen bir din dersinin nasıl olması gerektiği meselesi ile ilgili olarak bilimsel verilere dayalı fikirler ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada, kötülük probleminin konu edileceği derslerin hangi hedefler doğrultusunda, hangi içerik kullanılarak, hangi öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerinden yararlanılarak işlenmesi gerektiği hususunda yol gösterici nitelikte açıklamalara yer verilmiştir. Kötülük problemi gibi dini ve ahlaki gelişim açısından son derece hassas bir meselenin din eğitimi sürecinde nasıl ele alınması gerektiği konusunda bugüne kadar bilimsel bir çalışmanın yapılmamış olması bu araştırmanın önemini ortaya koymaktadır.
