Wide spectrum of clinical variation in foreign body aspiration

Abstract
Foreign body aspiration may present with various clinical signs and symptoms. We performed bronchoscopy to patient who was refe— red to our pediatric intensive care unit for status epilepticus and unexplained respiratory symptoms. We saw foreign body which was totally obstructing the right main bronchus. After removal of the foreign body, symptoms were improved rapidly. There is increasing use of bronchoscopy in pediatric intensive care unit for purposes of diagnosis and treatment of unexlained pulmoner symptoms over the last two decades. We present case of foreign body aspiration who was initially treated as status epilepticus because of bronchos— pasm and unconsciousness. CAYD 2015;2(2):83-6.

Yabancı cisim aspirasyonları birçok farklı belirti ve bnguyIa karşımıza çıkabilmektedir. Kliniğimize status epileptikus ve pnömoni nede-- niyle sevk edilen olgumuza açıklanamayan respiratuar semptomları nedeniyle yatak başı bronkoskopi yapıldı. Bronkoskopide sağ ana bronşu tıkayan yabancı cisim gözlendi. Yabancı cisimin çıkarılması sonrasında belirtiler hızla düzeldi. Son 20 yıldır yoğun bakım üni-- telerinde bronkoskopinin tanı ve tedavi amaçlarıyla kullanımı giderek artmıştır. Bu yazıda bronkospazm ve bilinç değişikliği sebebi ile status epileptikus zannedilen ve yoğun bakım ünitesinde yapılan bronkoskopi ile hızlıca tanı konulan yabancı cisim olgusunu sunduk.
