The Importance of the Tribal and Place Names in the Works of Chinghiz Aitmatov in Terms of Language and Culture

Abstract
The names of places and tribes reflect the history of the societies that comprise them. Although the names of places have undergone many changes over time, they live longer than the communities that make up them. The tribal names are among the factors that enable the Turks to be considered as a whole, even though they live in different geographies. Chinghiz Aitmatov has included a wide variety of geographies in his works and has painted a wide range of Turkish geography through the names of the places in these geographies. With the names which he gave place in his works, he has revealed the historical depth of Turkish society from past to present. In this article, the role of tribal and place names in the works of famous Kyrgyz author Chinghiz Aitmatov, in terms of language and culture transport, will be discussed.
Özet
Yer ve boy adları, kendisini oluşturan toplumların tarihine ayna tutarlar. Hatta yer adları, zaman içinde pek çok değişikliğe uğramalarına rağmen, kendilerini meydana getiren toplumlardan bile uzun yaşarlar. Boy adları da Türklerin farklı coğrafyalarda yaşamalarına rağmen bir bütün olarak ele alınmalarını sağlayan unsurların başında gelmektedir. Cengiz Aytmatov, eserlerinde çok çeşitli coğrafyalara yer vermiş ve bu coğrafyalarda bulunan yer adları vasıtasıyla oldukça geniş bir alana yayılmış Türk coğrafyasını resmetmiştir. Yapıtlarında yer verdiği boy isimleri ile de Türk toplumunun geçmişten günümüze tarihi derinliğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu makalede, ünlü Kırgız yazar Cengiz Aytmatov’un eserlerinde kaleme aldığı boy ve yer adlarının dil ve kültür taşıyıcılığı açısından üstlendiği rol ele alınacaktır.
